Dewdrop Films Website Launch

Welcome to the Official Site of Dewdrop Films, LLC

Founded in 2005, Dewdrop Films produces documentary photos and videos that inspire hope and postive social change.  Follow Maital as she travels to Israel, South Africa, and then back to Israel for ten months.

Dewdrop receives grant to run filmmaking workshops in South Africa

In 2010, South Africa is hosting the World Cup, a first for any African country.  Despite the increased media awareness, little attention is given to the young people of South Africa.  The MADaboutART Youth Empowerment project seeks to give these young people the tools and skills necessary to share their own stories with the world.  It will be based in the township of Knysna, South Africa.  Knsyna is home to one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world, but also to MADaboutART, a community center where young people use art to break the stigma and silence around HIV.  Through workshops, trainings, and hands-on experiences, the young leaders at MADaboutART will gain experience with writing, directing, editing, and online distribution. Using flip mino cameras (easy and inexpensive HD cameras), the students will produce short videos about their lives, empowering them to be the narrators of their own lives and expanding their global outreach.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Center for Leadership Initiatives at ROI, Maital will be returning to South Africa after spending ten months there in 2006 as a Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow.  See the photos and trailer
